I need to get a block heater for my 7205. She won't start in anything below 0 degrees and even if it did I hate to run it when the oil is like sludge.

Just called the local cub cadet dealer and an OEM heater is $174.19!!! I couldn't believe it. It does actually thread into a factory hole in the block. I can't find a frost plug that I can remove and put a generic block heater in. Does anyone have any ideas? A magnetic one would be doable if I can find one with some decent output, the one NAPA has for $40 is only 200W. The factory heater in my diesel truck is 1,000W. Any suggestions for rigging in a block heater is appreciated, especially if you did it for under $174!

I need to mount some rear facing utility lights to use with my 3ph snow blower. I'd like to put them up high on my ROP but I would like to do so without effecting the integrity of the ROP. Should I weld a plate to the bar and mount the lights or just drill some holes and mount them right in the ROP? Any one got a link to pics? Also, who suppplies a nice weather proof switch to mount in my plastic switch cluster? I already have a decent sealed relay. Thanks, Big Ed

My tractor is parked in the garage (which is attached to the house) and bellows exhaust like a sob when you first crank it in cold temps (28 deg yesterday). I haven't turned on the heat in the garage (need to finish insulating) and don't have a block heater yet. Has anyone ever plumbed their exhaust into a tube and vented it outside and let the tractor warm up in the garage? I'll be using the tractor to blow all winter and need a solution. I'd like to start the tractor in the garage and just turn the blower on and then back right out and start blowing. What does everyone else do?<br>Thanks,<br>big ed

I'd go with the belt approach, is cheaper and less complicated. That is and serves as a slip clutch when heavy surges are required. Sounds like a cool project. I may now be on the lookout for a worn out generator!

Wow, didn't know they were only $20. I guess I could just put the antifreeze that's in it back in after I install the heater right? The kind on my truck is the freeze plug type, only type I've seen. I'm wondering if my tractor being hydro makes any difference on this subject, it definitely helps to have that fluid a little warm from the start.--big ed

Not sure about the mf's but a top of the line cab for my Cub 7205 (20hp) would be about $1500!! That's with a glass front winshield and a 12V wiper, and plastic doors I think. The dealer had some type of universal kit for about $500 that fit most tractors my size, haven't had a chance to check it out though. Right now, I am just looking for one of the fiberglass sunhades. A Cub one runs about $300! Am trying to find a generic one for various size ROP bars? Any ideas?

I was looking at 1710 to $10k with a backhoe and fel. It didn't have the power steering option though so I stayed away. I'd offered him $8k for the 1910. IT's definitely a rugged tractor though.

I would look into the hours a little more, sounds pretty low. Regardless, I could see that tractor bringing $14-$15k here in Maine, if it looks clean. The 755 hydro's seem to be around $11-$12.

Excellent point Norm, didn't think about the rpm spec. I haven't tried adjusting the drag links on the arms, will definitely try that first. The 5' mower is a rugger sucker, 400lbs probably. Couldn't imagine a smaller tractor pulling it. Maybe it is just a small Cat-1 hitch? I like the idea of having narrower arms anyhow, mine rub the tires pretty bad when on inclines with my 5' bush hog (26" arms).

Does anyone know how I can get this thing about 2 inches wider, 1" on each tire? I am having problems with my lower 3ph links rubbing on my tires. I have tried adjusting the arms but the links still rub on one side when I am mowing on an incline. Thanks Big Ed

Just for the record: I went to check out the Jacobsen snow blower and it was a VERY rugged piece of equipment. It was belt driven with chain drive for the gear box. It just seemed too heavy duty for my little 20hp. I ended up getting a Ford 5' blower for $400. It was not quite as rugged, had a shear pin instead of belt drive but it was much lighter and even a foot longer and in much better shape.

I'm really impressed with my hydro drive and R4 tires on my 20hp Cub. Definitely go with the R4 if you are going to be doing any finish mowing, unless the land and high and dry.

Wow, that's a good deal on the Bx2200. I couldn't find it for less than $12k up here in Maine. My cub has been working out pretty good though, has 22hrs on it now.

Thanks Mark, I will give option 1 a shot. It's a small front tire (maybe a 14" rim?) so I would think any tire shop could handle dismounting it for me. There were several huge thorn bushes that I drove over when bush hogging. They're gone now! So hopefully I don't have to worry about thorns again. Thanks for the tips,

My 7205 FEL is pretty fast too. At the higher rpm's (which is required if I have 600lbs hanging off it!) I usually use two hands on the stick to barely lower it or roll it etc... I can drop it as slow as 1" per two second or so I guess? maybe you have some air in the hyrdo lines?

I have 16hrs on my 7205 and all is well. I knew of a friend having similar problems with the hydro's but it ended up just being an o-ring. Thanks for the post though, always good to be aware of that stuff just incase it happens to someone else and it turns into something more than a coinsidence.

The guage at the website mentioned above looks exactly like one used on a sailboat. I never even thought about using one of those. They are available at marine stores, may even be able to find a used one at a boat bone yard.

Finally found me a used bush hog. It is a 2000 model that somebody stove up by going over a stump or rock and forced the blades into the deck to form a round ring in the deck. Looked like a good deal for $500.Anyhow, what kind of oil goes in the gear box?<br>Also, the lower two big pins on the bush hog's 3ph are about 4" long. It is tough to get it on my tractor without dragging it forward with only one arm on and turning the wheel hard to get the other arm on. Can I get shorter pins the same diameter? This would also narrow down the width of my arms and help keep them from occasionally rubbing my tires when turning.Someone told me not to back up with a bush hog lowered, is this true?

I hear ya Peters. Just called a dealer on the Woods RD6000. It is $1850 with the chains! Wow. I can't justify that much $$ for my first mower. I'm still looking for a king cutter dealer in Maine, they appear to be a nice mower for the $$. The major difference I see between the more expensive mowers and the cheaper mowers is that the cheaper ones use a slip clutch in the main shaft while the higher$$ woods use the belt drive. The belt drive appears to be more friendly and reliable. If that slip clutch rusts up, no more slipping!
